Aunts, and Uncles, and Cousins (Oh My!)

We had a great group of visitors this weekend. My sister (Stef), my brother and his wife (Arie and Jaime) and my nephew Jackson all came to meet baby Dominic and to hang out with Derek and I.

Derek's Mom and Dad were gracious enough to hold a bbq for us at their house and this is a picture of Arie and Dominic hanging out together.

We all loved seeing Jackson again too (shown in the next picture coloring with his "Uncle D"). I can only hope that my kid will be half as cute (and smart) as his cousin is. Jackson captivated us all by knowing all his letters, counting in both Spanish and English, and singing tons of songs. We all loved being together but also got a little sad thinking about all the fun times we miss not living close to one another.

Dominic had a great time with his Aunt Stefanie too. She played with him and held him and even let him suck on her fingers when he got fussy. We really missed Uncle Pete and Craig and Anna but we hope we can get to Michigan later in the year so that Dominic can meet them.

Happy Father's Day

Derek celebrated his first Father's Day today and it was a fun day. For starters, Dominic and I had great fun buying Derek a fancy espresso machine from Starbucks that he's been eyeing forever and he loved it! Secondly, our very good friends Ben and Wendy were out visiting from Boston and we were able to continue hanging out with them today. (see picture of Aunt Wendy and Dominic below).

While I haven't been able to capture a good photo of it, Dominic has started smiling, even almost laughing sometimes, at us. This has, I confess, driven Derek and I to new heights of ridiculousness, trying to coax smiles out of him.

The above pictures are some of Dominic's favorite things from this past week...The first is obviously a picture of him getting a bath (which he absolutely loves). The second is of him hanging out with his Auntie Heather in his favorite sling and the 3rd is of him snuggling his Auntie Natalie who came all the way from Michigan to visit with us.
