Eat, Sleep, Read, Play

It was another eventful week in the Kudzia household. Alright...so truth be told, it was an endless cycle of eating, pooping, sleeping, and playing but Dominic still hasn't been doing these things long enough to make them boring to us yet (or at least not *completely* boring.) This picture is of Derek feeding his son his first bottle--it didn't seem fair that I *always* get to do those particular honors so I pumped a bottle of breastmilk so Dad could partake in the fun.

Assuming that no one wanted a picture of the kid pooping, I have substituted a photo of Dominic and I reading, which we also did a lot of this week.
Uncle Chris would be perfectly justified in objecting to this being the "play" picture of the week. After all, I don't think Dominic did more than stare at him--but Derek and I have chosen to deem any kind of interaction at this stage of the game as "play".

Grandma Gayle Meets Dominic

Dominic got a special treat this week--he got to meet his Grandma Gayle for the very first time. Since she's gotten here, he's been on his very best behavior, sleeping well through the night and playing happily with Mom and Dad. With Grandma's help, we've been able to get out a good bit this week and it's been great for all of us.

Today, Dominic has his very first musuem visit. We took him to the SFMOMA to see the Picasso exhibit. As usual (not to beat this particular dead horse), Dominic rejected our attempts at cultural exposure and slept through the whole trip. Grandma and I narrated the experience for him, though, so maybe some of it penetrated...Here's a picture of the kid himself, in his most common state....(p.s. both of these pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.)

What a Wonderful Week

We really took advantage of Derek being off of work this week to get out of the house and do fun stuff together as a family. In addition to our beach picnic, we also headed out to enjoy lunch under the Redwoods and to introduce our son to one of our favorite places. He woke up just about long enough to eat and then went right back to sleep. That's OK, though, there is plenty of time for him to appreciate it later....

And, to end the wonderful week, we got to celebrate our very first Mother's Day together over at Tutu and Grandpa's house. Once again, Dominic slept through most of it but as you can see from the picture, we all had a good time staring at him and just enjoying having three generations under one roof.

Brought to You by the Letter D and the Number 6

Baby Dominic is here--he arrived with a healthy set of screaming lungs--at 6 lbs, 12 oz on April 30th. We were so glad to finally meet him and welcome him into the family.

It's hard to believe he's already one week old. Derek and I have been learning the ropes and just trying to stay on top of feedings, diaper changes, laundry, etc. We did get a wonderful 6 hours of sleep last night. Although it was in 2 hour increments, we'll take it!

We also managed to get to the beach yesterday for a little picnic. The beautiful day and scenery was mostly lost on Dominic but very cathartic for Derek and I.

Speaking of Derek, he has been just about bursting at the seams since his son arrived. He tries to soothe the baby with future promises of ponies and has already started allowance negotiations.

Stay tuned for more updates on Baby Dominic!
